In Unit 1, of my Population class, we learned about many things that include learning about identifying characteristics of species, how to categorize them, and understanding the taxonomy of the species. Taxonomy is a way of categorizing species. In addition, I learned about how mathematics is a factor of explaining relationships in what are called elements. Elements are used to put a collection of
things into a group. For my first project, I was told to assign myself an organism to research and classify it. Also, we were told to create a collage mosaic that represents the taxonomic features on our organism. By researching the organism, I was able to find common differences and similarities for other organisms and put it into a Venn diagram. I was also told to make five math statements that describe the relationship of my organism. I felt that the most challenging part of the project was to design a mosaic. Fortunately, I was able to accomplish the task successfully. I am very happy with how it turned out. I decided to research the Blobfish, which is the Psychrolutes Marcidus. The blobfish is an extremely endangered animal, which is a reason why I chose it. There are only 420 blobfish left in the world!
Below are my collage mosaic and reference photo, where I tried to include all of the characteristics listed above. I enjoyed putting together a simplistic yet interesting organism. I found that its very loose skin and human-like face to be interesting. It's characteristics also allows it to swim at deep depths.

In addition, I created five math statements that show the relationship between various categories with my organism. They described which categories they do and do not belong to.

Finally, I created a Venn Diagram describing the similarities and differences of a dolphin, blobfish, and alligator.
