A Stance On GMOs
In the third unit of my science course, Food, we learned many things. In this unit, we learned about the genetics of people, how genetically modified foods interact in our lives, and how the genetics of food has evolved. For our external investigation, we were assigned to interview a seed saver. I found this to be interesting as I was able to understand what a person in the business of agriculture thinks. In addition, we were assigned an action project. The purpose of the action project was to write a speech about the future of our food, which is dependent on using or not using GMO seeds. I found this to be the most challenging part because I wanted to research facts and phrase them in a way that will deeply impact my audience leaving them to think about the issue after I present them my information. Even though this was the most challenging, I am happy with how it came out. In addition, I had to create a graph that showcases the global population and the population of undernourished people over time, which I felt I had the most success in. Overall, I enjoyed this action project.
