Appendectomy

In the first unit of my STEAM course, Cure, I studied the various systems, organs, and tissues within the human body. This has allowed me to understand the inner workings of my body and how the human body functions. For my first action project, I was tasked to choose a specific surgery and present the type of cells affected by the procedure and explaining the process of healing that takes place. I decided to research a procedure called appendectomy. The emergency surgery is one that can strike at any age and approximately 1 in 20 people have this surgery. This is relevant to me in that I have known many people who had been through the experience of having an appendectomy. After researching the surgery, I feel knowledgable about the procedure. While completing this action project, I felt that I struggled the most with designing my presentation in a way that effectively communicated the information through a media platform called Prezi. However, I enjoyed the process and in the end, I designed a presentation that does effectively communicate the information. Overall, I enjoyed it.
