Breaking Out
In unit two of my Drama course, I was tasked to read, A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen. After reading the play, I learned about social roles during the 1870s and various influential women in history. I learned about "The Dinner Party", which is a feminist artwork installation by Judy Chicago that functions as a representation of the history of prominent historical and mythical women in civilization. For the action project, I was told to create a dialogue that addresses the question, "Should men and women have different roles in society?". The dialogue included four characters, two from Ibsen's play, A Dolls House, an influential woman in history from "The Dinner Party", and a modern character. The dialogue included stage directions that followed the script guidelines and followed Freytag's Pyramid. I felt that the most challenging aspect of this action project was creating a dialogue that was interesting and creating a script that correctly followed the script guidelines. However, I was able to successfully create a story that is interesting. Overall, I enjoyed this project.
